This place is almost 65 Kms from Sulthan Bathery,Wayanad. It is easily aaceesible through Muthanga Forest area. Its indeed a great journey through forest. If you are lucky enough, you can see herds of Deers or group of Elephants(crossing the road for drinking water) and Monkeys ofcoz…Just before starting to traverse the wild beauty of Muthanga, there is Temple of epic importance…Ponkuzhi Seetha Temple…This temple has a river flowing nearby which is said to be flooded during rainy seasons almost sinking the temple. Also there is a ‘hanumankovil’ besides where you can find the famous ‘SeethaDevi’s Kanneerthadakam’…This small lake is happened to be formed from the tears of SeethaDevi after she got seperated from SreeRama.

Ok..chalo…lets leave her tears there…We are back on track…On the way thru Muthanga, you can see the Wayanad Wild life Santuary.

Leaving WildLife Santuary, you are off again towards Gopalaswamy Betta. On leaving Kerala border and entering Karnataka, you will notice the difference in trees in Kerala n Karnataka.Towards Karnataka, trees grows thinner in size compared to those in Kerala.Interesting,eh??…Well, its geographiocal changes man…

Passing through small villages, awesome green paddy fields, sunflower n corn filelds ,we will reach the starting of Gopalaswamy betta. Its indeed a nice treat to your eyes…the scenic beauty of the route till there..While climbing the hill towards Gopalaswamy betta, you can see Gooseberry tress on either side.We even manged to climb onto some of them and had some gooseberries packed home….

While climbing the hill,we felt it a Sunny day…nice climate we thought…But all our expectations turned upside down when we reached the top…It was an extremely unexpected, but lovely, climate on top…It was all full of fog n snow on top…n the wind…It felt like a hurricane actually…We were afraid we will fall off / fly around there….It was a romantic atmosphere amid those greenery and lovely small lakes and the cold wind…I was stunned by the beauty of that place…People who had gone there before 4/5 times also confirmed that they have never seen such a beutiful atmosphere there before…

I would bet this place is worth a one-day trip for those who wishes for a change…
